Is it the TRUTH?
Is it FAIR to all concerned?
Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Welcome Message
From President
Alan Russell

“Be the Inspiration” is the message from the new Rotary International President, and it is an exciting challenge. The Batemans Bay Rotary Club accepts this challenge and will continue the work it has been doing for over 60 years in our local community and for various community groups internationally. Our Rotary Club has long had men and women who have inspired and led change, made valuable contributions but above all sought out ways to serve others. They have for a long time put service before self. We welcome you to view our Web page as a snap shot of what we do, how we have developed and of what we offer. It is my pleasure to lead the Club for this Rotary year. It is my pleasure to invite you to join us on this journey of serving others. I would enjoy hosting you at one of our meetings on a Thursday night, introducing you to our programmes and to the wonderful and committed people who make up Batemans Bay Rotary.

International Project to Build Toilets in Remote Philippine Villages

Our International Director, Vere Gray, has successfully led an initiative to raise funds to construct 52 toilets in three villages in the Philippines with assistance from Floren Naguit from our sister club Rotary Intramuros, Philippines. They prepared a Global Grant Application to The Rotary Foundation to construct 52 toilets –

• in the village of Sitio Flora, 9 twin toilets and one single toilet for 43 houses with 242 beneficiaries;

• in the village of Sitio Kawayan, 15 twin toilets for 79 houses and 373 beneficiaries; and

• in the village of Sitio Babo 3 single toilets for 44 beneficiaries in 15 families.

In addition to the Rotary Foundation Grant of US$58,408 funding was secured from District (D)9710, D9670 and five clubs in D9710, (Moruya, Narooma, Canberra and Canberra North plus Batemans Bay). D3810 and RC Intramuros also contributed.

Construction of the toilets is now underway.

What is Rotary?
Rotary is a worldwide organisation of ordinary people, business, professional and community leaders. Rotary Clubs are non political, no religious and open to all cultures, races and creeds. For over 110 years people around the world have been giving to humanity through Rotary.

Rotary projects are diverse and our efforts are focused on our local community as well as supporting larger regional and international needs.

The magic of Rotary is that it allows ordinary people to achieve the most extraordinary things. Through Rotary people unite to achieve exceptional change in people’s lives. Many members of Rotary have developed projects that have brought significant changes to local communities and the world.

Theme for 2018/2019

Rotary International President Barry Rassin’s 2018-19 presidential theme is, “Be the Inspiration”.
“I want you to inspire in your clubs, your Rotarians, that desire for something greater. The drive to do more, to be more, to create something that will live beyond each of us.”

Rassin stressed the power of Rotary’s new vision statement, “Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change — across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.” This describes the Rotary that leaders must help build, he said.
