Update to the Community Services Team
4 October 2021
Rotary Markets
Obviously, September (2 markets) were cancelled as a result of the lockdown. This will have a significant impact on our bottom line this year as we are coming into our profitable time of the year. Our markets are due to start again on November 21st.
Batemans Bay Waterfront Signage Project
Called Liz Rankin, Eurobodalla Shire Council informed me that the draft water front plan is with ESC for comment. Arranged a meeting with Ewin (Heritage Museum) and Liz for 14 October. The club has set aside funds towards interpretive signage between Batemans Bay and Observation Point.
Rotary Race Day
Had a meeting with the Rotary Race Day committee and it was decided that a vehicle to support the Palliative Care team that work with Southern NSW Local Area Health and support clients in hospitals, residential care and at home would be our next fund-raising project. All our plans are on hold until we come out of lockdown.
It was agreed that the Prostate Cancer Awareness support group across the Eurobodalla and Bega Shires proposed by Narooma Rotary be supported by all the clubs, as the project develops.
Bushfire Recovery
We received a District Bushfire Grant for $4300 to construct a 7X8 meter shelter for Brooke Ladmore. The steel frame has been ordered through H & S Sheds and should be delivered mid October. Depending on Covid lockdowns we hope to have a couple of working bees with Moruya Rotary during October to construct the shelter.
Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR).
We have received a grant for $24680 for a project titled Batemans Bay Connections – linking our community services, charities and clubs – now and into the future. This project will involve all members over the next couple of years.
