Batemans Bay Rotary club showcased the Youth Programmes offered by the Club at our March 9th meeting.
Students who had attended three programmes spoke extremely well to the forty members and guests about their experiences.
Olivia spoke about attending the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) programme in January and how it helped her develop her personal leadership skills.
Zach spoke about attending the National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) at ANU also over January and how his great love for science has been stimulated.
The Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA) team from St Peter’s Anglican College gave a very full account of their weekend at Old Parliament House last August. The team was very successful and won the converted Peace Prize. Jesse was also invited to speak at the formal dinner which was held on the Saturday evening.
The Club acknowledged the school captains of the High Schools with a certificate and presented each Principal with a tree for the school. This followed the challenge set by Past Rotary International President Ian Risley for us all to plant a tree. It also fits the late Queen’s plans to help create a Global Green Canopy.
Two of the new ANU third year medicine students attended the meeting and we will will host them again during their year spent in Eurobodalla.
It was a great night and ww were all impressed at the amazing young people who live in our Shire.
