Bay Theatre Players are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year. In 1946, community volunteers from the Batehaven Progress Association built the Batehaven Hall at Observation Point. Bay Theatre Players held many shows there on wooden floors and fold out chairs until 1997, when they purchased the old St Vinnies Warehouse in Gregory Street. For 50 years now, BTP has been an important part of our community, supported by local fundraising and local talent. They are having a 50 year celebration dinner on Friday 29th November, and they are raising funds to replace the now (very old) seating in the theatre (see: www.baytheatreplayers.com).
Viv Wheatley will be our guest speaker tonight to tell us about the history of BTP and their current challenge in raising $50 000. Partner and guests are most welcome. Please register below by noon on Wednesday 13th August.
